Community Bulletin Board

This page is a place for stuff that might not call for posting to either of our email lists yet might be helpful, interesting or just plain fun for members, friends or passersby.

It could evolve into an interactive blog or some other kind of forum. (What do you think?) In the meantime, you can send posts to Jim Northcote at info@nelsonbuddha.com. Each post will stay up for a month or so, and then possibly go into the Kootenay Shambhala Scrapbook.

Weekthün doha

Participants at this year's annual Kootenay public weekthün, "Joining Earth, Energy & Space" with director Shelley Pierce, July 5th - 13th, created this doha (spontaneously composed verse) during the program's closing celebration.

Joining Earth, Energy & Space

Energy is the most important thing,
Which comes second?
Not us.
Earth matters
Reaching up to the sky
the Great Eastern Sun
my heart will go on
with sticky berries.
Coyotes calling at dawn
generosity serving
radiating light.
Awareness and compassion
as the sun peeks over the hill
stirring the pot
making good vegetable stew.
The joy of cooking—
we get cooked.
The spear flies endlessly into space
sparkling,
vivid yet ungraspable
Just a bunch of rascals
bringing us all down to earth
with bright red strawberries.
