The Roar of the Werma
with Acharya Jenny Warwick

December 20th: 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM
Price: Whole retreat: $750 CAD (discounts available)

REGISTRATION UPDATE (Nov 30, 2008): Even though the payment deadline has passed, it might still be possible to register. If you are interested, please contact Ty Runkle, Registrar, at tyrunkle@telus.net.

USD-CAD EXCHANGE RATE UPDATE (Dec 24, 2008): Today's Bank of Canada closing rate would give anyone paying in US dollars a discount of about 17 percent.

This program is one of two main programs that make up this year's annual Pacific Northwest Winter Retreat; the other is the Pacific Northwest Winter Dathün.

The Pacific Northwest Shambhala community invites all Rigden Abhisheka and/or Kalapa Assembly graduates to celebrate this two-week Werma retreat with Acharya Jenny Warwick at Camp Pringle, on Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia from December 20th, 2008 to January 3rd, 2009.

The intention of this retreat is to rouse in ourselves the natural qualities of confidence, authentic presence and windhorse. The Werma Sadhana, written by the Dorje Dradül from the terma of the Scorpion Seal, uniquely brings us in touch with primordial wisdom and energy, transforming the coward's mind into the mind of the compassionate warrior. The program will include sessions of executing the stroke of Ashe, guided visualization, warrior exercise, talks and discussion.

Fees (and corresponding dates):

  • Whole retreat (Dec 20 - Jan 3): $750 CAD
  • One week (Dec 20 - 27, or Dec 27 - Jan 3): $400 CAD

Available discounts:

  • For seniors (at least 60 years of age) and full-time students: 5%
  • For registrants who pay in full by October 1, 2008: 5%

Full payment is due by November 29, 2008. REGISTRATION UPDATE (Nov 30, 2008): Even though the payment deadline has passed, it might still be possible to register. If you are interested, please contact Ty Runkle, Registrar, at tyrunkle@telus.net.

About Camp Pringle:

George Pringle Memorial Camp is a United Church of Canada facility situated on 18 acres of forested land on the west shore of Shawnigan Lake, a 45-minute drive northwest of Victoria, British Columbia. Principally used as a summer camp for children and teenagers, the camp is a beautiful, sequestered place, ideal for group retreat practice. Accommodations are clean and comfortable dorm rooms and shared bathrooms.

Important additional information:

JENNY WARWICK began sitting with a small group of friends near Nelson, British Columbia in the early 1970s. Over the years since then she has served in a range of Shambhala administrative and teaching roles. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche designated her as an Acharya in 2003, giving her the name Hum Wangmo. During 2006-2007, she participated in the second year of the Three Year Retreat at Sopa Chöling Retreat Center. She teaches Shambhala Buddhism extensively in the Pacific Northwest and has led several Werma retreats. The living legend of Gesar of Ling and the challenge of warriorship in the world are of special interest to her.

If you have any questions about any of this, please contact the Retreat Registrar, Ty Runkle, at tyrunkle@telus.net or 604-520-7611.
