Harvest of Peace

September 22, 2018

Come celebrate the Kootenay Shambhala community this Harvest of Peace day!

Harvest of Peace, held around the time of the autumn equinox, is an opportunity for our community to gather, hear teachings, and celebrate the riches of our local cultures and heritage.

As Harvest of Peace draws nearer, we are reminded of the importance of building community through food, conversation, and meditation. We look forward to enjoying good food and drink together, socializing, and practicing together.

The day will also include a simple Shambhala Sadhana of Basic Goodness with our local sangha and a celebratory Potluck Feast to honour the harvest season and the warm inter-connectedness of our Shambhala community.

Harvest of Peace is an important and appropriate time in the yearly cycle to celebrate generosity and growth and to fundraise to support the incredible work of our Centre—the core of which is helping to transform fear and aggression into wisdom and compassion. There will be a brief local fundraiser at the event where we will invite people to celebrate generosity by giving what they can and according to their inspiration to support our local situation.

There is no cost to attend, and donations are always welcome

What to Bring:

-Yourself, your family, any interested friends.

-Your copy of the Shambhala Sadhana if you have one.  Although the Centre has copies if you don’t, so no worries.

-Your cheque book or cash, if you are able to participate in the fundraiser.  No worries if you are not.

-A potluck dish to share at the feast.

-An offering: a poem, a song, a dance, a story, a joke to share during the feast.  This is optional, so again, no worries.

Suzanne Butterfield will be co-ordinating the event, and Lynn Dragone will MC.
