Kootenay Shambhala Scholarship Fund
The Kootenay Shambhala Scholarship Fund was established and has been maintained largely by the generosity of local Centre teachers who have donated their teaching honoraria for the purpose. It offers support to Kootenay Shambhala members who need financial assistance to attend key Shambhala programs outside of the Nelson area.
The Fund operates under the following guidelines:
1. The eligibility requirements are: dues-paying membership for at least six months prior to applying for funding; a history of volunteering at the Centre; and a working relationship with a meditation instructor.
2. To be considered for an award, a member must submit a short email of application indicating the program’s name, location, dates and significance to the member; the member’s efforts to secure funding from other sources; and the potential benefit of the member’s participation in the program to the Kootenay Shambhala community.
3. Applications are to be submitted to the Scholarship Fund Committee, who will submit their recommendations to the Kootenay Shambhala Council for approval and disbursement of awards.
4. In general, the maximum award will be $300.
